I Want Some Feedback!

Hey guys-

Just want to say first of all, thanks for reading the blog. It is great to hear from some of you in emails, but it is even better to receive comments on the blogposts just so I know who is enjoying what. So far, I have no idea if anyone has even read the past three posts! So in order to keep this going I need some feedback also! So let me hear from you! Speak up!

That is all.

Til Next time!

  3. Been keeping up with you via the blog. Sounds like you are having the time of your life and im so happy for you! You are so well written and I laugh at much of what you have to say. My most recent fav. is your description of the intensity of tennis! Laughed out loud at that bit. Much love! Stay safe and enjoy yourself.

  4. Yeah, we are reading your blog, enjoying your pictures and commentary (the music too) It looks like you are really enjoying yourselves and having a really great adventure. Keep the words and pics coming and most of all keep yourselves safe, secure and legal. Have seen too many episodes of locked up abroad. Hope you continue to explore and experience as much as you can while there. Will be something you never forget and something most of us will never experience. with love, your uncle Wade.

  7. Thanks guys! It's good to hear you all are reading. I will keep that in mind and make sure every blog is as epic as possible ;)

Don't feel weird being the only person that posts a comment! You gotta think, we are sending one way communication via the blog, so hearing ANYTHING back is good.

Thanks for the support and we miss you guys! Take care!

  8. I am one of thousands I'm sure reading your Blog (and Maris's) laughing out loud, LOVING the pictures and anxiously awaiting the next adventure! Both of you write very entertaining journals. I'm thinking a career in writing might be a great back-up plan in the future. About the Tennis, take lessons before you start to develop bad habits that will limit your playing skill in the future. I had plently of them to "unlearn." But it's funny to see Maris play! She NEVER wanted to play when I wanted to teach her-"It's too hot! It's too hard!" Brock you have gone where no man (or mother) has gone before! Congratulations! Also, keep the photographs coming. Nothing puts you "right there" like a photograph. I love them!Take Care-love you!Karen H (Maris's Mom)

I don't know for sure, but sounds like somebody is a little Jealous of Maris's comments! Of course we enjoy your blog. Everybody reads it, but the simple truth is, I'm not sure everybody even knows how to leave a comment. Karen's family prints it out, and passes it around to several family members(no computers). Its like a weekly ritual, as they await the next episode of their favorite soap opera. My mother loves it, but the music is a challenge. They can't figure out how to turn it down/off (technology challenged). Their PC volume was set on maximum, and they couldn't even hear me on the phone trying to tell them how to turn it down. It was a challenge.

We're just so happy you guys are having a good time and staying safe. Keep the updates coming.

  10. Hey Friends!!! Logan and I sure miss you guys. Booms day was this past Sunday--and quite honestly we were not even interested in the fireworks (so we didn't watch them at all). I actually reflected on memories of all of us together..having beers, laughter, and good conversations. Maris' bike has been a blessing, and I think about your adventures as I'm riding around the familiar streets of east Tennesse---hoping for a soon escape into the unfamiliar unknown..a.k.a. Thailand 2010...I'm counting quarters for a flight- ;)hopefully Logan and I can visit...when it isn't the monsoon season. Sorry I missed your skype call. I've been sick, so I passed out after the drowsining effect of two Benadryl. I want to chat with you and Mar-bear!!!! I want to see yall's beautiful sun-kissed faces!!!! Love you guys!!!!

  11. I am now an official follower. I say official to myself as if it is italicized...but clearly because I have no options to change the font of my letters, i wanted to make it clear in writing that the lack of the italicize is not a oversight. Basically..i have been following the blog from the beginning and really enjoy it! Now you can know that i am following by the reassuring photo to the right of the screen...
okay..see what medicine can do to you when you have had no sleep...:)

    p.s. dig the music...(of course)

  12. Of Course I'm reading you're blog...You ole saber-tooth tiger you! Since I didn't go to Thailand, and I refuse to be outdone on anything...I went ahead and one-upped you. I adopted a little Thai boy and I'm going to raise him like he was from Dyersburg. Not sure yet what I want him to focus his life on, but whatever it is I want to be able to exploit it and live the rest of my life of his accomplishments. Keep the blog rollin and keep rockin' into manhood...I knew that you would...

  13. When I need to laugh at all during the day, I close my eyes and imagine you indoctrinating Taiwanese children with the Brock B. vernacular and philosophy. Keep livin' the dream. The pics are great, keep 'em coming!

  15. I have been really enjoying the blog. I especially love the beach posts, but I also like hearing about all the different food and places and people. I usually read on bloglines because it, ahem, doesn't make my eyes bleed ;-) so that's why I never post comments.

The Beginning

The Beginning

I am a 25 year old, southern Gent. I've been bothered by the fact that I've not traveled the world or even left the country, sans a trip to Cancun when I was in High School, but that was so muddled with tequila and strip clubs (sorry mom), that It doesn't REALLY count- that I have decided to take a adventure across the globe with the love of my life.

All I needed was a motivator, I needed someone to push me to travel and tell me, "Now's the time to do this, and we should totally do it". She came, she said those magic words and now we've got our bags packed, watching the calendar.

I had intentions on moving to New York City with my girlfriend. We are both really big into music and both have a spot in our hearts for the city. The opportunity escaped us after having our hopes deflated by the freaky rent prices there. We kind of ditched the New York idea immediately following a trip there and the mention of Thailand.

We had always tossed around the idea of traveling together. I knew I wanted to travel with her. The first place she mentioned was Thailand, and after 20 minutes on Craigslist, checking out places and prices, we were sold (prob not the best way to chose where you want to spend your life, but that's just how it happened, and this is my story). Thailand it was.

So here we are 6 months later, a ticket for Bangkok dated August 4th in our hands. When people ask us how long we will be in Thailand, we say "Indefinitely". We are ready for a life change, something that might coax us into never coming back.

I have been dreaming of the sand and the crystal beaches since we mentioned the move, I have also had nightmares of being locked up and having to deal with a girlfriend who has been kidnapped by some crazy python handler, but those are just dreams.

The truth is, I have never been so excited and nervous at the same time for anything in my life. Right, now as I sit on my couch in South Knoxville looking out the window at the homemade bird feeders we made, on a hot Sunday afternoon, it blows my mind to think that in a little under two months, I might be laying in the sand with the tide riding up my mini bathing suit, with some concoction of a random Thai's design to sip in one hand, watching long-tailed boats float over the horizon, holding the love of my life in the other.

I expect to be shocked, excited, impressed, disappointed, lost, scared, found, happy, comfortable, uncomfortable, drunk, frightened, enlightened, ready to come home, ready to stay forever- all at different times on this journey.

But one thing that will never change will be when I am an old man, maybe back in South Knoxville, sitting on my porch in a rocking chair with my old wife, widdling some crazy little thing old men on porches widdle, I will be able to look over to my wife and ask, "Remember that time we went into that local bar in Thailand and we saw that Thai Prostitute perform that "Ping-Pong show?" I am glad we shared that moment together."

And she will say, "Brock that's disgusting" and then smile a little bit.
